Book your bus ticket out of Puerto Natales as early as you can, especially during high season: from December to February. We could have bought our ticket to El Calafateahead of time but the lady from Bus Sur assured us that there would be no issue buying our ticket the day before. This, of course, turned out to be false as everyone continues on the Patagonian route and wants to go to El Calafate. We didn’t get on the daily 7am bus the next day but on the 6pm bus for 15,000 CHP (USD $20) per person. We arrived in El Calafate a bit after 11pm.
